چکیده
We study oscillations of accretion torus with azimuthal magnetic field. For several lowest-order modes we calculate eigenfrequencies and eigenfunctions and calculate corresponding intensity and polarization light curves using advanced raytracing methods.

Magnetized Accretion Flows: Effects of Gas Pressure
We study how axisymmetric magnetohydrodynamical (MHD) accretion flows depend on γ adiabatic index in the polytropic equation of state. This work is an extension of Mościbrodzka & Proga (2008), where we investigated the γ dependence of 2-D Bondilike accretion flows in the hydrodynamical (HD) limit. Our main goal is to study if simulations for various γ can give us insights into to the problem of...
متن کاملModelling continuum optical and ultraviolet polarization of active galactic nuclei
We present results from a new Monte Carlo radiative transfer computer code, STOKES, developed to model polarization induced by scattering off free electrons and dust grains. STOKES is freely available on the web and can be used to model scattering in a wide variety of astrophysical situations. For edge-on (type-2) viewing positions, the polarization produced by a dusty torus alone is largely wa...
متن کاملGlobal Simulations of Differentially Rotating Magnetized Disks: Formation of Low-beta Filaments and Structured Coronae.
We present the results of three-dimensional global magnetohydrodynamic simulations of the Parker-shearing instability in a differentially rotating torus initially threaded by toroidal magnetic fields. An equilibrium model of a magnetized torus is adopted as an initial condition. When beta0=Pgas&solm0;Pmag approximately 1 at the initial state, magnetic flux buoyantly escapes from the disk and cr...
متن کاملQuasi-periodic Oscillations in the X-ray Light Curves from Relativistic Tori
We use a relativistic ray-tracing code to analyze the X-ray emission from a pressure-supported oscillating relativistic torus around a black hole. We show that a strong correlation exists between the intrinsic frequencies of the torus normal modes and the extrinsic frequencies seen in the observed light curve power spectrum. This correlation demonstrates the feasibility of the oscillating-torus...
